Following Manchester United’s unexpected 2-1 win over local rivals Manchester City, manager Ruben Amorim clarified his choice to leave star winger Marcus Rashford out of the matchday squad.
City took an early lead through Josko Gvardiol, but United mounted a dramatic comeback, scoring two quick goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo to secure the Premier League victory. However, much of the pre-match attention was focused on the absence of Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, who were both excluded from United’s squad.
Amorim initially explained that the decision was based on assessments of their performances in training and their off-field behavior. In the post-match press conference, the Portuguese coach elaborated further, refuting rumors that Rashford’s omission was linked to disciplinary problems or misconduct.
