Liverpool Ready To Hijack Transfer For Newcastle’s ‘Top Target’ As Chelsea Eye Tasty January Funds Boost
Recent transfer rumors from the Premier League and beyond have sparked excitement, with reports indicating that Liverpool is aiming to surpass Newcastle United in the race for one of Europe’s standout players.
Newcastle, also referred to as the Magpies, have been heavily linked with a move for Johan Bakayoko, the emerging talent from PSV Eindhoven. The Belgian forward has had an impressive season so far, netting six goals and registering three assists in 21 matches across all competitions. At just 20 years of age, Bakayoko, who has 18 caps for Belgium, has expressed his ambitions and commitment to PSV, emphasizing his desire to achieve success at the club.
In a recent interview with Eindhoven’s Dagblad earlier this summer, Bakayoko shared his long-term aspirations, stating, “If I were to leave Eindhoven, it would only be for a club competing for trophies, just like PSV. My main goal is to become a champion, and I also want to win the Champions League. I believe I have the ability to perform at the highest level. But PSV is already a top club, especially if many key players from last season remain. It’s a fantastic place to play, and I’ve never shown any unwillingness to stay. Even after the European Championships, returning to PSV felt great. The positive energy from last season is still strong.”
These remarks are likely to have caught the attention of clubs like Newcastle and Liverpool, who are closely tracking Bakayoko’s situation.
As reported by CaughtOffside, Liverpool has now officially joined the race to sign the talented winger, who is reportedly Newcastle’s top target for the upcoming January transfer window. The report suggests that Liverpool may need to pay around £50 million to secure his signature, a sum well within the club’s financial capabilities.
