Manchester United’s turbulent season took another unexpected turn when Ruben Amorim decided to remove Bruno Fernandes from the captaincy after his red card in a 2-0 defeat to Wolves. This decision reflects Amorim’s increasing dissatisfaction with Fernandes’ discipline and performances, especially following a series of disappointing outings.

The loss at Molineux marked United’s fourth in five Premier League games, further intensifying the pressure on Amorim. Unlike their prior 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, which was marred by defensive mistakes, this match saw Wolves take control. Matheus Cunha, who scored directly from a corner, and Hee-Chan Hwang, who netted on the counterattack, left United vulnerable.

A pivotal moment came in the 47th minute when Fernandes was shown a red card for a dangerous challenge on Nelson Semedo. Already on a yellow card, his late tackle resulted in a second booking from referee Anthony Taylor, leaving United to finish the match with ten men. Fernandes’ walk past Amorim without any acknowledgment highlighted the growing tension between them.
