However, sports commentator Richard Keys has suggested that Slot consider offloading Trent Alexander-Arnold, despite ongoing rumors about a potential summer move to Real Madrid. According to Keys, Alexander-Arnold’s recent performances have not been sufficient to warrant a spot in the starting lineup.

Keys expressed his view on his blog, stating, “Trent’s performance against Manchester United demonstrated that Liverpool should accept Real Madrid’s £20 million offer. It seems likely he’ll leave, so it’s better to address it now.”

He added, “I’m not suggesting he’s a bad player, but his talents may be better suited to Real Madrid. Defending isn’t his strongest skill, and all the transfer gossip is a distraction.”

Real Madrid has expressed interest in the 26-year-old England international, with rumors indicating Alexander-Arnold is open to a move to Spain. Liverpool recently turned down a £20m bid from Real Madrid, but with Alexander-Arnold likely departing on a free transfer at the end of the season, Keys believes Liverpool should sell him now.

Despite the rumors, Alexander-Arnold’s display in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United raised concerns. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher suggested the transfer speculation might have impacted his performance, but both manager Arne Slot and team captain Virgil van Dijk disagreed.

Van Dijk stated, “I don’t think the rumors affected Trent. He has his own support system, and he always strives to perform at his best, just like the rest of us.”

Slot remarked, “While others may think the rumors influenced him, I don’t agree. What really impacted him was facing challenging players like Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot. That was a more demanding test than the transfer talk.”
