LIVERPOOLTODAY TOP TRANSFER 》Liverpool now have second secret weapon to secure Milos Kerkez transfer amid Man United interest
Liverpool appear to have gained an edge over Manchester United in the race to sign Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, with two key figures potentially helping to sway the transfer in their favor. The Hungarian left-back has been linked with both Premier League giants this month, and with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher recently urging his former club to sign a left-back in January to strengthen their title challenge, it is no surprise that Kerkez has emerged as a target.
Reports suggest Liverpool view the 21-year-old as a long-term successor to Andy Robertson. However, the transfer battle took an unexpected turn when the *Manchester Evening News* revealed that United are now also interested in signing Kerkez. The report states that United are looking for a left-sided player to replace the injury-prone Luke Shaw, while Tyrell Malacia could also be sold this year.
Despite the rising competition, Bournemouth are reportedly keen to hold onto Kerkez at least until the end of the season, valuing him at around £50 million. However, Liverpool may have an advantage in negotiations thanks to two key connections that could work in their favor.
The first is Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, who previously worked at Bournemouth and played a major role in bringing Kerkez to the Vitality Stadium from AZ Alkmaar. His relationship with the defender could help facilitate a move to Anfield.
The second is Dominik Szoboszlai, who shares a strong bond with Kerkez as his teammate in the Hungary national team. In an interview with *Nemzeti Sport*, Szoboszlai was asked who his best friend in the Premier League would be, to which he responded: “I would choose Bournemouth’s left-back, Milos Kerkez. He looks like me, only a little crazier than me. But he still has time to grow up.”
With both Hughes and Szoboszlai in Liverpool’s corner, the club may have the advantage needed to convince Kerkez to choose Anfield over Old Trafford when the time comes.
