A dominant performance from Barcelona saw them cruise past Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday, as Robert Lewandowski scored twice against his former club to hand the Spanish side a strong advantage heading into next week’s return fixture in Germany.
**Highlights: Barcelona vs. Dortmund**
Unbeaten since the end of December and aiming for a treble, Barcelona controlled the match from the outset and opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Raphinha managed to poke the ball into the net. Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel made several key stops to keep his side in the match for the rest of the first half.
Barcelona returned from halftime with renewed intensity and quickly added a second goal, with Raphinha delivering a cross that Lewandowski headed in from close range just three minutes into the half.
The Polish forward increased their advantage in the 66th minute with a sharp finish from the edge of the area, and Lamine Yamal sealed the emphatic win in the 77th minute.
> “I think we played very well, but we are not thinking about the semi-finals yet, we must keep the same focus and mentality that have brought us here so far,” Lewandowski told Movistar Plus.
> “It doesn’t matter where we play and what game it is, we always want to play our football with the same commitment.
> “Our mindset is always going for the win and that is how we will play at Dortmund. We have to go there and play as well as we did today or even better.”
Barcelona are enjoying an impressive 23-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, standing as the only club in Europe’s top five leagues without a loss in 2025, and remain contenders for three major trophies.
On Wednesday, Kobel made point-blank saves to deny both Lewandowski and Yamal, but could not prevent Raphinha from scoring in the 26th minute.
After halftime, Yamal dashed down the right side and sent in a lofted cross to the far post, where Raphinha nodded the ball across the box, allowing Lewandowski to tap it in from just inches out.
Dortmund couldn’t hold out much longer, and after Fermin Lopez hit the post, Lewandowski struck again with a powerful shot before Yamal capped off the rout with a composed finish on the counterattack.
