Liverpool’s newly appointed head coach, Arne Slot, has quickly captured attention since replacing the iconic Jürgen Klopp. In a bold and surprising remark during a recent interview, the Dutch manager provided fans with an exclusive look into his transfer strategy — and more intriguingly, hinted at his interest in two players he’s keen to sign for Anfield this summer.
“I’m not really a fan of signing players, especially in the Premier League,” Slot confessed. “But for these two players, I could make an exception. One is from West Ham, and the other is from… well, let’s just say he’s familiar to me for more than one reason.”
This comment immediately sparked a flurry of speculation. It didn’t take long for fans and football insiders to pinpoint the two likely names on Slot’s radar: Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, both currently playing for West Ham United.
Indeed, two of David Moyes’ attacking stars have reportedly caught Slot’s eye, and both could be on their way to Liverpool if the club’s interest intensifies in the coming weeks.
Jarrod Bowen, known for his tireless work ethic, intelligent off-the-ball runs, and ability to score crucial goals, is well-suited to the profile of a Liverpool forward. With Luis Díaz’s future uncertain and Mohamed Salah potentially entering his final season at Anfield, Bowen would bring valuable Premier League experience and tactical discipline — traits that Slot highly values in his fast-paced, pressing system.
However, the bigger surprise lies in Slot’s admiration for Mohammed Kudus, the dynamic Ghanaian midfielder whose versatility and explosive play made a significant impact during his first Premier League season. Kudus, who previously played under Slot in the Eredivisie when the Dutchman was managing Feyenoord and Kudus shone at Ajax, brings more than just familiarity. He adds a dynamic edge to Liverpool’s midfield that has been lacking since the departure of prime Gini Wijnaldum.
“Kudus has the kind of unpredictability that scares defenders. He’s technical, fearless, and can change the rhythm of a match in seconds,” Slot said. “He’s a player who can operate between the lines, beat his man, and contribute goals — and those qualities are rare at this level.”
Sources close to the club suggest Liverpool may approach West Ham with a combined offer exceeding £100 million for the duo, although acquiring both in one transfer window could prove difficult. West Ham, on their part, are hesitant to part with two of their most valuable assets in a single summer — but the allure of Champions League football and the opportunity to play under Slot’s new vision may be enough to convince the players.
One thing is certain: Arne Slot has a strategy. And for a manager who rarely looks to the domestic market, his willingness to make an exception for Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus speaks volumes about their potential to usher in a new chapter at Anfield.
