Pep Guardiola provides an update on Rodri and speculates about his potential return to Manchester City. Amid a challenging season, Manchester City is aiming to secure a place in the Champions League for next season. Quietly, the Citizens have relinquished their grip on the Premier League title. Liverpool is on the verge of reclaiming the title that City has dominated for the past four years, and the season has largely been defined by the loss of one player. Rodri has not played since September, and his serious knee injury has greatly diminished Pep Guardiola’s chances of securing another Premier League title. Although several months have passed since his injury, fans remain increasingly concerned about when he will return, and the head coach has now provided an update.

Pep Guardiola shared an update on Rodri… It seems unlikely that the midfielder will play much, if any, this season, though the City manager would be thrilled to have him back for the final stretch. It might be wiser to ensure that Rodri is fully ready for the next season, as City is likely to make changes to the squad in preparation for another Premier League title challenge. It’s clear that the team has felt Rodri’s absence, and Guardiola has now commented on the midfielder’s recovery. He told Super Sport, “I would be thrilled to have him back soon, but it was a tough injury.” He has already been out for six months, six and a half months.

He has been absent for seven and a half to eight months due to the injury; however, he is slowly rejoining the team. This is a positive sign. Manchester City’s difficulties without Rodri are obvious when the numbers are analyzed. The player has been crucial to the team’s success over the years and is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the football world.

Without Rodri:

Wins 129, Draws 13, Losses 26, Win Rate 74.1%, Rodri was absent from Manchester City prior to his injury in September.

Rodri will be treated as a new signing next season, which is why rushing his return is not advisable. Guardiola has mentioned that he is returning in some form of training; however, it’s important to proceed cautiously with an eye on a crucial 2025/26 campaign.
