Barca players ask Flick to exclude their teammate from the El Clásico squad

Barcelona’s senior players have requested their German manager, Hansi Flick, to refrain from selecting their teammate for the upcoming La Liga El Clasico match versus Real Madrid.

Barcelona is set to take on Real Madrid in a pivotal clash on Sunday in the 35th matchweek of the Spanish top flight, with victory likely sealing the championship.

The El Clasico follows a heartbreaking Champions League semi-final elimination after an exhausting encounter with Inter Milan last Tuesday, which ended 4-3 in favor of the Italian side after extra time.

As reported by *El Nacional*, Barcelona players urged the inclusion of Ronald Araujo, who bore the brunt of the backlash for his role in conceding the third and fourth goals.

Currently, tensions seem to have eased. Still, some veteran members of the Barcelona squad are unsure if Ronaldo is prepared to feature in El Clasico.

The backlash he’s endured recently has been extremely severe. Araujo may struggle to concentrate and be mentally prepared to contribute if Flick calls on him.

So much so that a few teammates have advised Flick against playing the defender in such a high-stakes fixture right now, believing he’s still emotionally shaken and would benefit from a short recovery period
