Kobbie Mainoo Praises Diogo Dalot After Stunning Performance in Europa League Comeback
Kobbie Mainoo, an emerging talent at Manchester United, shared his admiration for teammate Diogo Dalot’s showing during the team’s thrilling 5-4 victory over Olympique Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final. Mainoo, who played a key part in the turnaround, called Dalot’s performance “reminiscent of Cristiano Ronaldo,” adding, “I’ve never seen him play like this before. If he keeps it up, we’ll definitely win the Europa League.”
Typically recognized for his defensive work, Dalot revealed an attacking flair that wowed both supporters and fellow players. His forceful sprints along the flank and accurate crosses were vital in shifting the momentum in a gripping match. Although Lyon held a 6-4 aggregate lead at one stage, United responded with goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mainoo, and a dramatic late header by Harry Maguire to seal the stunning comeback.
Mainoo, only 19, also played a decisive role in the win. His steady presence and key equalizer in extra time highlighted his rising importance on the pitch.
With a semi-final clash against Athletic Club ahead, United’s unity and determination position them as strong challengers for the Europa League crown.
