Liverpool and Barcelona came with a good offer but I choose to join Arsenal because of this particular Arsenal player,I don’t want anything that will jeopardize our friendship and I hope I won’t regret my decisions later”, Nico Williams named the ONE Arsenal player that convinced Him to accept Arsenal offer
In one of the summer’s most discussed transfer sagas, Spanish winger Nico Williams has now disclosed why he rejected high-paying offers from *Liverpool* and *Barcelona* in order to join *Arsenal* — and it was all because of a meaningful connection in North London.
During his introductory press conference, Williams spoke about the tough choice he faced and identified the *Arsenal* teammate who was instrumental in persuading him to make the move to the Emirates.
“*Liverpool and Barcelona both came with very good offers*,” Williams acknowledged. “*I spoke to people at both clubs, and honestly, it was tempting. But there’s one person at Arsenal I couldn’t turn my back on.*”
Without keeping supporters in suspense, Nico shared the name of the individual who influenced his choice.
“*That person is Bukayo Saka,*” he stated, smiling. “*We’ve been close for years since we met during international youth tournaments, and the bond just grew stronger from there. I didn’t want anything that would jeopardize our friendship. I spoke to him a lot about life at Arsenal, the team, Mikel Arteta’s vision — and his words meant everything to me.*”
Williams further admitted the decision was challenging, considering the stature of the other clubs pursuing him.
“*I hope I won’t regret my decision later,*” he said. “*Because those other teams are huge, but in the end, loyalty and friendship matter a lot to me. I feel like I’ll be at home here with Bukayo and the rest of the team.*”
The Spanish winger’s signing has already stirred excitement among *Arsenal* fans, many of whom are eager to witness how his link-up with *Saka* might flourish in the *Premier League* next season.
Coach *Mikel Arteta* also commented on the acquisition: “*Nico is a player we’ve admired for a long time. His qualities suit our style perfectly, and having someone like Bukayo here to help integrate him makes this even more special.*”
With *Liverpool* and *Barcelona* walking away empty-handed, *Arsenal* supporters will be hopeful that this bond, both on and off the pitch, brings memorable moments in the upcoming seasons.
