UEFA sparks outrage in Catalonia with its first official statement, igniting controversy after the refereeing disaster in the Barcelona vs Inter clash!

UEFA has made its stance known regarding Polish official Szymon Marciniak, whose contentious calls during Barcelona’s second-leg clash with Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday evening led to backlash.
Marciniak has come under fire in Catalonia for the loss to Inter, receiving criticism from club president Joan Laporta, head coach Hansi Flick, and key players such as Pedri, Ronald Araújo, and Gavi.
Spanish outlet *Marca* reached out to UEFA to inquire about its perspective on the events of the match and whether there were any concerns about the Polish referee’s actions after the fixture.
UEFA’s reply was straightforward: “No problem,” indicating the governing body stood by Marciniak’s performance, even in light of the heavy disapproval from many in Catalonia.
*Marca* also noted that Paris Saint-Germain’s progression to the Champions League final—where they will meet Inter Milan—could pave the way for Marciniak to oversee the final in Munich, possibly stepping in for French referee Clément Turpin, who is currently considered the top referee globally. Additionally, Marciniak is anticipated to officiate at the Club World Cup in the U.S. next summer, as he remains a preferred choice for both UEFA
and FIFA.
