Emiliano Martinez has three offers to leave as Aston Villa want £21m Arsenal target
Emiliano Martinez has already attracted three offers to depart from Aston Villa following what appeared to be a goodbye gesture to fans at Villa Park on Friday night.
The 32-year-old is nearing the end of his fifth campaign with Villa, having arrived in a £20 million transfer from Arsenal in September 2020.
Villa defeated Tottenham 2-0 in their last home fixture of the season on Friday evening, and during a post-match appreciation lap, Martinez was seen emotional as he waved with his family.
As per TyC Sports, there is a ‘good chance’ Martinez will be transferred this summer, with Villa reportedly open to entertaining offers for the Argentina international.
Reports suggest that Martinez has ‘firm offers from two top European clubs’, in addition to an opportunity to play in the Saudi Pro League, though he reportedly prefers staying in the Champions League.
Villa are also planning to challenge Arsenal for Espanyol keeper Joan Garcia.
The 24-year-old’s contract contains a €25m (£21m) release clause, which will increase to €30m (£25.2m) if he receives a national team call-up for Spain.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are also eyeing Garcia, while Espanyol turned down a previous offer from Arsenal for him last summer.
When questioned about Martinez’s future following the victory over Tottenham, Emery stated: ‘We will see.
‘Of course, it is the last match here \[this season] and I don’t know.
‘We will see about the team, the players, but of course, they are respo
nding on the field.’
