Antony made the move to Manchester United from Ajax for a substantial £82m (with the potential for add-ons) in the closing stages of the 2022 summer transfer window. The Brazilian, who was already known to then-manager Erik ten Hag, had difficulty adjusting to the Premier League right from the start.
So far, Antony has scored only 12 goals and provided five assists in 93 appearances for United across all competitions. His underwhelming performances led to him losing favor with Ten Hag before the manager’s departure earlier this season. Since Ruben Amorim took over, Antony has continued to feature infrequently.
Spanish publication ABC Sevilla reports that Real Betis are now looking to sign Antony in the upcoming January transfer window. The winger is one of several players United are willing to sell as part of a squad overhaul. Due to limited funds, the club needs to sell players to give Amorim the financial means to reshape the squad.
