After Manchester United’s unexpected 2-1 triumph over local rivals Manchester City, manager Ruben Amorim clarified his choice to exclude star winger Marcus Rashford from the matchday squad.
City went ahead first with a goal from Josko Gvardiol, but United mounted a late rally, scoring twice in quick succession through Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo to claim a thrilling Premier League victory. Much of the pre-match focus, however, was on the absence of Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, who were both left out of United’s squad.
Amorim initially explained that the decision was made after assessing their performances in training and their behavior off the field. During the post-match press conference, the Portuguese manager offered additional insight, rejecting rumors that Rashford’s exclusion was related to disciplinary problems or misconduct.
