Liverpool Star Considering Move After Limited Premier League Minutes

Liverpool have been performing exceptionally well under manager Arne Slot, but one player is reportedly contemplating a move away from the club in January due to limited playing time.

The Reds have only lost once in their first 26 matches under Slot’s leadership, and they are currently six points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand. They also lead the Champions League with a flawless record and have made it to the Carabao Cup semi-finals, where they will face Tottenham.

While players like Mohamed Salah, Ryan Gravenberch, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are enjoying standout seasons, Federico Chiesa has had limited playing time.

Chiesa, who moved to Liverpool from Juventus in the summer for up to £12.5 million, was expected to bring depth and variety to the squad. However, the versatile midfielder has made only four appearances, with just one start. His 18-minute appearance against Bournemouth in September remains his only Premier League appearance.

A muscle injury has hindered Chiesa’s playing time, and although he has been fit for two of Liverpool’s last three games, manager Arne Slot has not given him the opportunity to play.

According to FootMercato, Chiesa is now contemplating a loan move back to Serie A for the remainder of the season, though he does not want to leave Liverpool on a permanent basis. Napoli are reportedly the frontrunners to sign him, with AC Milan and Fiorentina, his childhood club, also interested.

Chiesa has proven his quality in Italy, with 100 goal contributions in 235 Serie A appearances and playing a key role in Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph. However, his fitness and adjustment to the Premier League’s high intensity have raised concerns.

“It’s expected that after missing training for so long, it’s tough to jump into a team that plays with such intensity,” Slot remarked. “He is improving, but there is strong competition for his position on the right wing.”

It remains to be seen if Chiesa will be given an opportunity to play when Liverpool face West Ham on Sunday.
