In a thrilling match at The City Ground, Liverpool’s Diogo Jota scored an equalizer just 22 seconds after his introduction in the 65th minute, sparking controversy among rival fans, particularly Arsenal supporters. Jota’s goal leveled the score at 1-1 against Nottingham Forest, who had taken an early lead through Chris Wood.

Despite struggling to break down Forest’s defense, Liverpool managed to equalize when Jota, left unmarked during a corner, scored a powerful header. However, footage emerged showing Cody Gakpo seemingly obstructing goalkeeper Matz Sels before the goal, leading some to question whether the goal was legitimate.

Former referee Keith Hackett commented on the incident, acknowledging the tactic used by attacking teams to block goalkeepers but maintaining that VAR would not intervene in this case. Hackett noted that goalkeepers should be stronger in such situations, ultimately deeming the goal valid.

The draw left both teams sharing the points, with Nottingham Forest still six points adrift of the Premier League leaders, Liverpool, while Arsenal now focuses on their upcoming match against Tottenham.
