Looking back at January, it became clear that Arsenal’s need for a center-forward was critical. The absence of a reliable striker over the festive period likely cost them the league title. In December, Arsenal faced West Ham and, despite taking 30 shots on goal, they were unable to score and lost the match. This game highlighted their difficulty in converting opportunities into goals at that point.

However, Arsenal’s fortunes improved in the second half of the season as they competed with Manchester City for the Premier League title. In their next encounter with West Ham, they netted six goals. Although Arsenal eventually missed out on the title, they ended the season as the second-highest goal-scorers, with 91 goals.

Given this improvement, the question arises: Is a new striker still necessary? While the need may not be as pressing, recent reports suggest that there have been some exciting developments.

Arsenal’s Hunt for a New Forward

Initially, it seemed that Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko was set to join Arsenal this summer. The RB Leipzig forward had a reasonable release clause, and it appeared that Arsenal simply needed to pay the fee to finalize the transfer. However, Sesko is now expected to remain in Germany and sign a new contract with Leipzig.

As a result, Arsenal has shifted their attention to Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres. Their interest in the Sporting forward has been known for a while, but now they are actively pursuing him. Reports suggest that Gyokeres is “on the verge” of joining Arsenal, indicating that the club is nearing an agreement to secure his signing.
