Liverpool manager Arne Slot has commented on the Premier League’s extravagant spending, particularly highlighting Manchester City’s recent ten-year contract renewal with Erling Haaland, reportedly worth a staggering £500,000 per week.

Slot emphasized that Manchester City is not the only club with immense financial power, mentioning Chelsea and Manchester United as other significant spenders in the league. Upon closer inspection, Chelsea has been the leader in expenditure since 2016, having spent an incredible £2.04 billion, while both Manchester City and Manchester United have invested around £1.5 billion each.

In contrast, Liverpool’s spending has been more restrained, totaling £940 million since 2016. Despite this considerable difference, Slot remains confident in his team’s ability to compete with the Premier League’s heavyweights.

For Slot, the Premier League’s attraction lies in its intense competition and high stakes. He recognized that while Liverpool might not always lead in spending, the team is confident in its current roster and fully dedicated to competing with the top clubs.
