Liverpool player ‘refuses’ new contract in massive blow to Arne Slot and could now leave the club

A Liverpool player, despite having a standout season, may be on the verge of leaving the club. Reports indicate that winger Luis Diaz has turned down an initial contract extension offer from Liverpool. While Diaz’s current contract runs until the summer of 2027, the club is eager to secure his long-term future to avoid situations like those surrounding Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts are up in the summer. Diaz is reportedly unhappy with the terms of the offer, believing it doesn’t reflect his value to the team or his contributions since joining from Porto in 2022.

If the Colombian becomes available, Barcelona may look to sign him as part of their plan to strengthen their left-wing attack. Despite this, Liverpool will likely continue efforts to negotiate with Diaz, as he has been in excellent form, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances this season, matching his tally from last year despite fewer appearances.
