Jamie Carragher Makes Brutally Honest Liverpool Admission After Win Over PSG As Alisson Becker Claim Made
Jamie Carragher’s frank assessment of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 match was unreserved, calling the result “one of the biggest robberies you will ever see in football.” Although PSG clearly dominated possession and launched 27 shots, 10 of which were on target, Liverpool managed to secure the victory, largely thanks to a standout performance by Alisson Becker.
Carragher praised PSG’s overall superiority but highlighted Liverpool’s resilience, particularly Alisson’s extraordinary contribution. He even went so far as to describe it as “arguably the greatest performance of his career,” drawing comparisons to the goalkeeper’s crucial save in the 2018-19 season that helped Liverpool progress in the competition they eventually won.
Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, shared a similar view, stating that he had “never worked with a goalkeeper at this level” and calling Alisson the best in the world. Former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock also hailed the Brazilian goalkeeper, calling him “exceptional” and noting that players of his caliber are game-changers in high-stakes tournaments.
With this incredible performance in Paris, Liverpool now heads into the second leg at Anfield with a vital advantage. If they go on to win the Champions League, this match and Alisson’s heroic display will undoubtedly be remembered as a pivotal moment.
