Joao Pedro is reportedly eager to join Liverpool this summer, as Brighton looks to secure a significant transfer deal for the forward. Liverpool, however, is targeting a more proven goal scorer than Pedro, with plans to sign a striker who can make a greater impact
Football Insider reported in December that Liverpool was contemplating a £60 million transfer for Pedro, who would be open to joining Anfield. However, recruitment expert Mick Brown, known for his vast experience in player acquisitions, suggested that Liverpool is focused on finding a more experienced goalscorer. Brown noted that although Pedro could fit into Liverpool’s system, the club is keen on signing a top-tier forward to boost their attack, particularly after Darwin Nunez’s inconsistent performances.
Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, plays a key role in the club’s transfer plans and is also monitoring Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. The 21-year-old midfielder has impressed this season with his passing, dribbling, and defensive skills, making him an important target for Liverpool to strengthen their midfield.
Despite Brighton’s high asking price for their players, Liverpool is determined to enhance their squad. The club is exploring alternatives to Pedro, given the uncertainty about whether he fits their attacking needs. This approach is consistent with Liverpool’s wider strategy, which could include selling Luis Diaz and pursuing a “world-class” forward to improve their attack, with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak among the potential targets.
