A Bundesliga analyst has disclosed the potential fee Liverpool might have to pay to land a highly rated forward from Germany’s top division, a player they have reportedly been tracking closely.

As per a recent report from *CaughtOffside*, Liverpool are considering a move for RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons, whose valuation has recently fallen from €100m (£83.7m).

Leipzig are said to recognize that retaining him long-term may not be realistic, increasing the likelihood of a transfer.

In his latest *Fact Files* column for *The Daily Briefing*, journalist Christian Falk shared details on Simons’ situation.

Although he did not refer to Liverpool specifically, he confirmed that Leipzig might be open to selling the Dutch international should the right offer be made.

Falk clarified that Leipzig are eager to keep Simons, in contrast to Benjamin Sesko, who has a pre-arranged agreement allowing him to depart if his price is met.

That said, there is also an informal understanding regarding Simons, and with Leipzig yet to pay the full €80m in add-ons for his transfer, they are looking to secure a profit.

While any bid under €60m is likely to be turned down, an offer in the region of €70m (£59m) could be sufficient to land the forward if he opts for a Premier League switch.

Manchester City and Manchester United have expressed interest, though United’s financial constraints make a deal uncertain.

Liverpool’s positive relationship with Leipzig—having previously brought in Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate, and Dominik Szoboszlai—could be advantageous. However, much will depend on their transfer priorities this summer.

As *The Athletic’s* James Pearce has noted, Liverpool’s spending power may be largely influenced by the contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk.

Simons has received high praise from Bayern Munich’s sporting director Christoph Freund, who described him as an “exceptional player” with the mentality required to succeed at the top level. Leipzig manager Marco Rose has similarly called him a “difference maker.”

The crucial question for Liverpool’s recruitment team is whether Simons is seen as a primary target. With a possible price tag of €70m, it remains to be seen if FSG will sanction a move and how aggressively they will pursue the Dutch star in the upcoming transfer window.
