Scandal in Spain: The goal of Brahim Diaz explodes the controversy !
Last night, Real Madrid secured a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the eighth round of the Champions League. It was a significant victory for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, though it was overshadowed by a controversy that has sparked considerable debate. The Santiago Bernabeu was electric from the start, with Rodrygo scoring an early goal. The Brazilian forward, expertly assisted by a long pass from Valverde, bypassed two defenders before delivering a brilliant strike past Jan Oblak.
Atletico Madrid responded quickly, with Julian Alvarez, assisted by Antoine Griezmann, leveling the score with a powerful shot. The match then became highly contested, filled with intense battles and noticeable tension on the pitch.
The goal by Brahim Diaz has become a point of contention. Diaz ultimately secured the victory for Real Madrid with his second goal, but the situation surrounding the goal has raised significant debate, particularly due to Vinicius Junior’s positioning at the time of the shot. Many fans and analysts believe that Vinicius was offside and that his presence interfered with Oblak’s sight. According to Marca, “a number of fans have voiced complaints about Vinicius being offside during Brahim’s goal.”
Pavel Fernandez, an arbitration analyst for Radio Marca, added his voice to the controversy, stating: “There is an offside position on Brahim’s goal. Vinicius is about a meter and a half from Oblak and blocks his line of sight.” However, not everyone agrees. Miguel Angel Mendez, a consultant for Radio Marca, offered a different perspective, stating: “For me, Vinicius is just observing the game and doesn’t interfere. At no point does he obstruct Oblak’s vision.” Enrique Marques shared a similar view, commenting, “Turpin is one of the best referees in the world. In Spain, we often judge situations with still images, but when viewed in motion, there’s nothing to criticize.”
