**Wataru Endo-2**

While Liverpool celebrated their second Premier League title, sharp-eyed fans at Anfield noticed a unique stat from Wataru Endo this season that sets him apart from every other top-tier player.

Arne Slot became the fifth coach in Premier League history to claim the title in his first season in England’s top league, following a dominant 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at a lively Anfield.

**GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Wataru Endo has not started a single Premier League match of the 2024/25 season under Slot.**

Though largely overlooked by Slot, veteran Japanese midfielder Endo appeared 29 times in the 2024/25 campaign, most often as a substitute due to the performances of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.

The Japanese captain has consistently brought energy when called upon – a fact supported by a recent stat highlighting that he leads all Premier League players in fouls per match.

Endo arrived under Jurgen Klopp with a reputation for tenacity, and during his time at Anfield, he’s consistently shown that combative nature.

Among all top-flight players this season, none – not even Crystal Palace’s Will Hughes – has averaged more fouls per game than the 32-year-old Endo, who transferred from VfB Stuttgart in summer 2023.

Endo, known for wearing a rugby-style mouthguard during games, has committed eight fouls per game this season. Even more surprising, he has done so without picking up a single yellow card throughout the entire Premier League 2024/25 campaign.

In contrast, Hughes has accumulated 2.9 fouls per game and received 11 yellow cards since August. Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jota Silva, in third place, has 2.6 fouls per game and five yellows.

One Liverpool fan posted on X (formerly Twitter), perhaps jokingly, saying Endo’s under-the-radar stat should earn him a long-term stay:

**“This is the greatest stat in the history of the Premier League. Left him lift the trophy. Give him a ten-year deal. What a fella.”**

What comes next for Yokohama-born Endo is unclear. Dependable in difficult moments, the question remains whether Slot – widely considered one of the top coaches globally – intends to seek an upgrade for his position.

Interestingly, the Dutch coach might leverage Endo’s unique stat as a selling point. If other teams show interest, his fearless, team-first playing style could be used as a key attraction.
