Klopp demands three big signings before agreeing Real Madrid deal

Jurgen Klopp will reportedly seek assurances concerning three major signings before committing to take charge at Real Madrid, amid strong speculation that Carlo Ancelotti will be dismissed later this month.

The Spanish giants suffered a heavy defeat in the Champions League, exiting the tournament at the hands of Arsenal with a striking 5-1 aggregate loss. Domestically, their form has also faltered, as they sit four points behind arch-rivals Barcelona in LaLiga.

Despite this, Real Madrid have reached the Copa del Rey final, though they face the daunting challenge of Barcelona – a side that has dominated them this season with a combined scoreline of 9-2 over two fixtures.

According to Sky Sports, the Copa del Rey final is expected to be Ancelotti’s last match in charge, with his dismissal anticipated soon after.

Ancelotti is unlikely to be without a job for long, as he is being lined up for the Brazil national team role. Initially, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso was seen as the frontrunner to take over at Real Madrid.

However, reports from UOL and later Sport indicate that the club is shifting its focus to Jurgen Klopp.

The iconic former Liverpool manager is reportedly dissatisfied with his current position as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull and is considering a return to coaching.

Klopp is believed to be open to resuming managerial duties only for two roles – Brazil or Real Madrid.

With Sport suggesting that club president Florentino Perez is becoming less enthusiastic about Alonso, and Klopp seemingly ‘willing’ to enter talks, the 57-year-old might find himself back in the dugout at the Bernabeu before the campaign concludes.

A recent report from Defensa Central offers further insight into Klopp’s potential move to Real Madrid.

They note that Klopp’s candidacy is ‘gaining momentum’ in Madrid, though ‘he would come with a series of conditions that would need to be accepted.’

These conditions are said to focus solely on transfer matters, particularly concerning the club’s vulnerable defence.

According to Defensa Central: ‘He would ask Florentino Perez for the arrival of a right-back, who will be [Trent] Alexander-Arnold, a left-back, and a centre-back.’

This trio of signings is not expected to be a sticking point for Real Madrid, as the requested reinforcements are understood to ‘align with what the sports management proposes’ as well.
