Bruno Fernandes urges Manchester United to bring back on loan star after Amorim exit

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly called on the club to bring Marcus Rashford back to Old Trafford, following the dismissal of former head coach Rúben Amorim.

Fernandes is understood to believe Rashford’s departure during Amorim’s tenure was handled poorly and that the England forward was unfairly treated before leaving the club.

Speaking to sources close to the dressing room, Fernandes is reported to have said that, as captain, he felt constrained from speaking out at the time because of the potential consequences, but now believes the situation has changed.

Fernandes is said to have stated that he “understands how badly Amorim treated Rashford” and that, with the former manager now gone, the club should make every effort to welcome him back.

Captain reflects on Amorim era

Rashford left Manchester United during a period of internal tension under Amorim, with questions raised at the time about communication, player management and trust between the coaching staff and senior players.

Fernandes, who remained captain throughout that period, is believed to have privately supported Rashford but chose not to speak publicly while Amorim was still in charge.

Sources suggest Fernandes felt that intervening at the time could have worsened the situation or created further instability within the squad.

Call for reunion at Old Trafford

With Amorim no longer at the club, Fernandes reportedly sees an opportunity to correct what he believes was a mistake.

Rashford, a product of United’s academy, remains one of the club’s most recognisable players, and his potential return would be viewed by some supporters as both a symbolic and sporting boost.

Fernandes is understood to believe Rashford’s qualities, experience and connection to the club could play an important role in rebuilding morale and identity.

Club position unclear

Manchester United have not commented publicly on Fernandes’ reported remarks or on the possibility of Rashford returning. Any move would depend on a range of factors, including contractual arrangements, financial considerations and the plans of the club’s new managerial setup.

INEOS are currently reviewing the squad as part of a broader restructuring following Amorim’s departure.

What happens next

Rashford’s future remains uncertain, but Fernandes’ comments underline the wider sense of reflection taking place at Old Trafford following another managerial change.

As United attempt to stabilise and move forward, decisions around former players, leadership and squad identity are likely to form a key part of the club’s next phase.
