THE “POGBACK” PHANTOM: Is the Sensational Return a Reality, or a Carrington “Ghost” Story?

The Manchester United “Beautiful Football” era under Michael Carrick has just been rocked by the most explosive rumor of the season. Following the hype of a fourth straight win and the “Cristiano Ronaldo sighting” earlier today, the internet has reached a boiling point over reports that Paul Pogba has officially completed a “sensational” one-year return to Old Trafford.

While United fans are celebrating a potential “Redemption Tour,” the medical and contract reality behind the scenes at Carrington tells a far more complicated story.

THE REALITY CHECK:‼️ Where is Pogba Right Now?

Despite the “Official Now” headlines flooding social media, Paul Pogba is currently under contract with AS Monaco. The French superstar signed a two-year deal in Ligue 1 back in June 2025 following the reduction of his doping ban.

However, the “return” rumors aren’t entirely baseless. Here is the current situation as of February 10, 2026:

• The Monaco Struggle: Pogba’s return to French football has been a “nightmare” due to a series of injuries. He has featured just three times this season and was recently dropped from Monaco’s Champions League squad to make room for January signings.

• The “Carrington” Sighting: Reports suggest Pogba was indeed spotted near United’s training ground today—not to sign a contract, but to consult with world-renowned specialists regarding a persistent calf injury that has kept him out since December.

• The “One-Year” Theory: While no deal has been signed, insiders suggest that INEOS is considering a “low-risk, high-reward” move for a veteran midfielder this summer. If Pogba can prove his fitness, a “Short-Term Redemption” contract could be discussed—but only if Michael Carrick gives the green light.

CARRICK’S STANCE:‼️ Midfield Mastery or Tactical Risk?

Michael Carrick, who played alongside Pogba during the 2017 Europa League triumph, is reportedly wary of disrupting the chemistry between Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro. With Bruno Fernandes already in world-class form and Bruno Guimaraes potentially arriving from Newcastle, a Pogba return would create a tactical “headache” that Carrick may not want.

“Paul is a world-class talent, but we are building something specific here,” a club source noted. “Any new arrival must fit the work ethic and discipline Michael has instilled over these four wins.”

THE FANS’ VERDICT:‼️ Love or Legacy?

The United faithful are split. Some view a Pogba return as the “Ultimate Last Dance” to fix the mistakes of his previous exit, while others believe the club should stick to the “Carrick Way” and focus on younger targets like Patrick Dorgu (who is currently facing his own “devastating” injury update).

Would Paul Pogba be a “Game Changer” for United’s quadruple chase, or is he a shadow of the player who left in 2022?
