Man Utd fans notice Bryan Mbeumo problem during Arsenal defeat that no-one has mentioned yetMan Utd fans notice Bryan Mbeumo problem during Arsenal defeat that no-one has mentioned yet Home> Football> Football News> Man Utd Published 13:26 19 Aug 2025 GMT+1 Man Utd fans notice Bryan Mbeumo problem during Arsenal defeat that no-one has mentioned yet Manchester United supporters picked up on an issue involving Bryan Mbeumo on his Premier League debut for the club. Josh Lawless Josh Lawless Manchester United fans have identified an issue with Bryan Mbeumo in their opening weekend defeat to Arsenal. The Red Devils lost 1-0 to the Gunners at Old Trafford, with Riccardo Calafiori scoring the only goal of the game from a Declan Rice corner which Altay Bayandir flapped at. There were plenty of encouraging signs in defeat for United, with new signings Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha full of energy and excitement in their competitive debuts. Manager Ruben Amorim liked a lot of what he saw and said that his side had proved they “can win any game in the Premier League” if they perform in the same vein. But while there was plenty of positivity from a United perspective, a potential problem was spotted by fans regarding Mbeumo. The Cameroonian, who scored 20 goals last season, lined up on the right of a front three and looked to cut in one his trusty left foot. Image: Getty Diogo Dalot started as a right wing-back before being replaced by the more attack-minded Amad Diallo in the 55th minute. The Ivory Coast international came up with big moments in what was collectively a poor campaign for the club last season and has proved to be one of United’s most dangerous players under Amorim. The decision to not start him came as a surprise but having seen what happened when he entered the fray, many fans have started to form an explanation as to why. Plenty online felt that Amad and Mbeumo did not work as a combination as they were too similar in coming in off the right with their left foot and took up the same space. One fan on X commented: “Mbeumo and Amad combo can’t work, please!!!” A second said: “Jeeezzz, I thought I’ve been the only one saying this…bro I start Dalot over Amad at any time at that RWB…immediately Amad came up, we stopped playing wide man.” A third agreed: “Amad and Mbuemo just always want to be in the same spot man.” A fourth stated: “Lots questioning on why Amorim play Dalot instead of Amad before. And now they know why. The difference is there when Dalot overlap at the outside and create space for Mbeumo to cut inside meanwhile Amad always overlaps inside and creates limited space for Mbeumo to cut inside. A final user added: “We looked more balanced with Dalot at RWB. Amad had a good cameo but him and Mbeumo want to cut in and shoot, none of them wants to receive the ball on their right to cross.” Fans felt as though Mbeumo and Amad occupied the same space. LIVE FROM FABRIZIO ROMANO – VAR SCANDAL EXPLODES AS PREMIER LEAGUE ORDERS REPLAY OF MANCHESTER UNITED VS ARSENAL ” BREAKING NEWS: Chaos has erupted across English football tonight. In a shocking twist, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a final decision has been made after an immediate review of the Manchester United vs Arsenal clash at Old Trafford. The Premier League has ordered a full replay of the match after a series of scandalous officiating errors from referee Simon Hooper and the VAR team. Romano dropped the bombshell live: “Decision is final after immediate review: Manchester United vs Arsenal will be replayed. According to investigations, Arsenal got away with 2 clear penalties and 5 yellow cards in order to beat Manchester United.” This decision is unprecedented. Rarely, if ever, has a Premier League match been replayed due to refereeing mistakes. But the level of outrage, evidence, and pressure after Sunday’s fixture forced the league into action. The incidents under review included: A blatant handball inside Arsenal’s box ignored by referee Simon Hooper, with VAR shockingly refusing to intervene. A reckless foul on Patrick Dorgu inside the 18-yard box, waved away despite furious protests from United players. Five separate incidents where Arsenal players should have been booked but escaped punishment, allowing the Gunners to continue disrupting United’s play. Fans inside Old Trafford branded the officiating a disgrace, chanting “VAR is corrupt” as the final whistle blew. Now, with the replay confirmed, United supporters see it as justice served. The fallout has been immediate. Arsenal fans are furious, labeling the decision a farce and accusing the league of bowing to pressure from United and pundits like Rio Ferdinand. Meanwhile, United fans have flooded social media with celebration, calling the replay “a chance to set the record straight.” Former referees have weighed in too, with one describing Hooper’s performance as “one of the worst in Premier League history.” Others are warning this could set a dangerous precedent, with clubs demanding replays every time officials get major calls wrong. But for now, the decision stands. Manchester United and Arsenal will face off again at Old Trafford, in what is now one of the most controversial and anticipated replays the Premier League has ever seen. For Simon Hooper, his future as a top-flight referee is now under heavy question. For United, it’s a lifeline. For Arsenal, it’s fury. And for the league, it’s a scandal that will not die down anytime soon.
