Arsenal teenager Myles Lewis-Skelly won over the supporters at the Emirates with a memorable performance in the North London derby on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta’s team came from behind to secure a vital victory, with goals from Dominic Solanke (own goal) and Leandro Trossard providing the crucial points.

One of the standout performers for Arsenal was 18-year-old full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, who marked his first North London derby with an exceptional all-around display.

In addition to being reliable defensively, he showed confidence going forward. He not only made two interceptions and clearances but also completed 94 percent of his passes.

During his post-match interview with TNT Sports, teammate Declan Rice likened Lewis-Skelly’s ball-carrying skills to that of former Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele, who was known for breezing past players. “He’s got that Mousa Dembele trait, to use his body to get away from things,” Rice said.

Lewis-Skelly also provided plenty of entertainment for the fans. He “shushed” the traveling Tottenham supporters after Arsenal took the lead, generating significant reactions on social media.

Later, after receiving a yellow card for attempting to waste time before being substituted for Oleksandr Zinchenko, he further energized the crowd as he left the pitch. Here’s how fans reacted on social media to his performance against Spurs.

One fan said: “Myles Lewis-Skelly was excellent again at left-back, drifting into midfield when necessary, reading the game perfectly, and intercepting well. Very calm. Unfazed by the pressure and excitement of the #NLD. Only 18.”

Another remarked: “Myles Lewis-Skelly was the man of the match, and it wasn’t even close. Incredible performance in that atmosphere—he loved every minute of it.”

A third fan wrote: “Lewis-Skelly has immediately adapted to men’s football and is consistent enough to secure a starting spot at 18. Fans don’t realize how amazing that is. By far the biggest positive this season for me.”

One more said: “Lewis-Skelly got under Spurs fans’ skin while putting in a perfect performance. Unbelievable night,” while a fifth added: “The way players just bounce off Lewis-Skelly is always amazing to watch—he’s an absolute tank.”

Earlier this month, reports suggested that Arsenal were in discussions with Lewis-Skelly about a new contract after his breakthrough season. He had only signed his first professional contract in October of the previous year.
