Harry Kane has spoken about the release clause in his Bayern Munich contract amid unexpected transfer rumors linking him to Liverpool.

The England striker has addressed speculation regarding a potential Premier League return, with Liverpool surprisingly emerging as frontrunners for his signature.

Kane left Tottenham in August 2023 after scoring 280 goals in 435 appearances without winning a major trophy, joining Bayern Munich in a deal worth €100 million, plus an additional €10 million in bonuses.

Since his move, he has made a significant impact, netting 76 goals in 82 matches, helping Bayern dominate the Bundesliga and progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.

However, recent reports suggest he may consider a return to the Premier League within the next six to twelve months.

Reports claim his release clause was set at £67 million in the last transfer window and is expected to drop to £54 million next winter.

According to Spanish sources, Kane has expressed a desire to return to the Premier League, aiming to finish his career in England. Liverpool is currently viewed as the leading contender to secure his services.

Insiders close to Kane reportedly believe he is seriously considering returning to England at the end of the season, with a clear goal of concluding his career there.

The current leading candidate for his signature is Arne Slot’s Liverpool, who are performing strongly in the domestic league.

Liverpool’s management is actively pursuing elite reinforcements to enhance their European ambitions, and Kane fits perfectly into their strategy.

The player’s desire to return to England may complicate negotiations for Bayern. His contract runs until 2027, giving the German club a strong bargaining position, but his personal ambition could play a crucial role if Liverpool makes a serious offer this summer.

Kane is determined to finish his career in England, and Liverpool’s current squad presents an ideal environment: an ambitious project, an experienced manager, and strong title aspirations. This transfer could significantly alter the Premier League landscape next season.

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Basler hopes Kane will remain at the Allianz Arena, stating that the England international is “more of a team player” than Robert Lewandowski.

Basler told Spaceport Sweden: “Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski share some similarities. They are both rarely sidelined by injuries and consistently find the net, but I believe Kane is a more collaborative player—Lewandowski can be quite self-centered at times.”

“When I watch Kane, I see him tracking back into midfield and effectively distributing the ball. I think he brings more value to Bayern than Lewandowski did. He contributes defensively and is more engaged in the team’s build-up play.”

“I hope he remains with Bayern, and I believe he understands the value of what he has at the club. Given his age, I’m not sure he would want to undergo another transition at this point.”

“I think he feels very settled at Bayern, and I hope he stays there until the end of his career.”
