Barcelona forward set to undergo tests after fresh injury; doubt for Atletico Madrid game

Barcelona’s recent 1-0 defeat at home to Leganes was a tough setback, worsened by an injury to their key forward, Lamine Yamal.

In the 15th minute, Yamal was subjected to a harsh tackle from Neyou, which targeted his right ankle—an area that had already been impacted by injury earlier this season.

Despite showing clear signs of pain, Yamal continued to play for an additional 50 minutes, even after receiving medical attention during halftime.

His performance was subpar; he lacked his usual energy, avoided the ball, and shifted from his typical right-wing position to a less effective central role.

Yamal is set for further medical examinations on Monday to evaluate the condition of his right ankle, as reported by Diario AS.

This injury is especially concerning as it follows a previous grade one syndesmosis injury to the same ankle during a match against Red Star on November 6.

That injury had initially sidelined him for two to three weeks, causing him to miss significant games against Real Sociedad, Celta de Vigo, and Brest.

Will Yamal be fit for the match against Atletico Madrid?

With the crucial match against Atletico Madrid approaching in just a few days, marking the last game of 2024, Barcelona’s hopes of having Yamal available are slim.

The club is preparing for the possibility that he may not recover in time for this important match.

Yamal’s absence could be a major blow for Barcelona, especially considering the team’s struggles in his absence.
