Liverpool
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique was left furious after his team’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League, and he’s not holding back on who he believes is responsible! The Spanish coach has singled out a Liverpool star as the reason PSG failed to secure a win at the Parc des Princes, and his frustration was clear for all to see.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has issued a bold statement ahead of their second-leg showdown, arguing that his team was unlucky not to come away with a win in the first leg.
PSG enters the return match at Anfield trailing 1-0 after Harvey Elliott’s late goal gave Liverpool a dramatic victory at the Parc des Princes.
Although PSG controlled much of the game, they couldn’t find the net, thanks in large part to a stellar performance by Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who thwarted important chances from Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué.
Enrique Optimistic PSG Can Turn Things Around at Anfield
Despite the defeat, Enrique remains hopeful about PSG’s ability to recover in the second leg. After the match, he voiced his dissatisfaction with the outcome, asserting that Liverpool were lucky to come away with the win.
“A comeback at Anfield? Absolutely, we can do it. We will do it,” Enrique confidently stated. “The result was very unfair. They had one shot and scored. Their best player was the goalkeeper. It’s a bit odd. I’m very proud of my team—we were much better than Liverpool.”
While Liverpool have had an impressive season, Enrique’s remarks highlight PSG’s frustration with the way the game unfolded.
With PSG dominating possession and creating several chances, they will feel they should have been in a more favorable position heading into the second leg.
The return leg at Anfield is set to be a thrilling contest, with Liverpool aiming to defend their lead while PSG looks to mount a dramatic comeback. The question remains—will Arne Slot’s team manage to withstand PSG’s pressure once again, or will Enrique’s side secure the result they believe they deserved?
