Liverpool NewsTrent Alexander-Arnold reveals why he left Liverpool to sign a five-year deal with Real Madrid
Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed the motivations behind his move away from Liverpool to join Real Madrid on a five-year agreement.
Reports confirm that his departure has been finalized, with Real Madrid successfully acquiring the Liverpool star on a long-term contract.
According to sources, Alexander-Arnold has reached an understanding with Real Madrid regarding his move, which is now regarded as completed.
His transfer has been widely discussed for a while, particularly because he, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, will see their Liverpool contracts expire at the end of the season.
However, at just 26 years old, he has drawn more interest than his fellow teammates.
Liverpool acknowledges that parting with Alexander-Arnold means forfeiting several peak years of talent, while Real Madrid recognizes they could benefit from his abilities for an extended period.
The Spanish club had previously attempted to acquire him in January, which would have allowed Liverpool to collect a transfer fee, but the Reds turned down the proposal, ultimately losing that chance.
Reports indicate that Liverpool’s contract offers have been turned down multiple times by the right-back, with Sky Sports’ Sacha Tavolieri pointing out that these repeated efforts have not succeeded.
The report confirms that his switch to Real Madrid is now sealed, with the club having secured a five-year contract agreement.
Alexander-Arnold is set to earn €15 million (£12.5 million) per year, which is considered equivalent to a substantial transfer fee.
Real Madrid has the financial flexibility to provide higher wages since they are not incurring an actual transfer fee for him.
It is stated that nothing at this stage will change the defender’s decision.
Furthermore, Real Madrid might have an influence on Liverpool’s defensive plans. The Reds are said to be assessing possibilities to recruit Bournemouth center-back Dean Huijsen.
However, after reaching an agreement with Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid is reportedly moving forward in securing Huijsen, who is understood to have decided to leave England and is keen on making a return to Spain.
