As one full-back looks set to leave Liverpool, another has committed his future to the club.

Reports indicate that Trent Alexander-Arnold is on the verge of completing a transfer to Real Madrid, with months of speculation seemingly reaching its peak. The LFC academy product’s tenure at Anfield appears to be nearing its end, but a new opportunity is emerging for another promising defender.

Liverpool have confirmed that Clae Ewing, an 18-year-old left-back, has signed his first professional contract with the club. Ewing, who arrived at Liverpool’s academy from Bury as an under-12 player, has made impressive appearances this season, including in the UEFA Youth League against Stuttgart and for the under-21s in a Premier League 2 victory over Stoke.

This contract represents a significant step in Ewing’s career, with Liverpool demonstrating faith in his ability to make a meaningful contribution in the future. Primarily a left-back, he has also played in midfield and has registered a goal and three assists across different youth levels this season. His next objective will be to secure a regular place in the under-21s and potentially earn chances with the first team during pre-season.

Ewing can look to recent academy graduates like Trey Nyoni, Jarell Quansah, and Ben Doak, who have all broken into the senior squad at Liverpool.

Best wishes to Clae Ewing on this accomplishment, and here’s to a promising journey with the Reds!
