Victor Gyökeres Poised to Join Manchester United After Verbal Deal

sportime 1 week ago, 02 mins

Manchester United has reportedly secured a verbal agreement to acquire Swedish forward Victor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon, with the finalization of the deal expected during the summer transfer window.

Despite challenges in the forward position this season, United chose not to make a high-profile signing in January, as negotiations for Gyökeres were already underway. The 26-year-old, who has been in excellent form with 34 goals across all competitions, has now agreed to personal terms with the Red Devils.

Gyökeres moved to Sporting from Coventry City in 2023 and rapidly emerged as a standout player due to his pace and clinical finishing. Even amid managerial shifts, his remarkable goal-scoring record has kept him on the radar of top clubs.

Although Gyökeres’ current contract with Sporting runs until 2028 and contains a €100 million release clause, reports indicate that the Portuguese club is open to negotiating a fee of around €70 million to facilitate his transfer to Old Trafford.

United views Gyökeres as a crucial element of their long-term plans, especially following his success under former Sporting manager Rúben Amorim. If the deal proceeds as expected, he will be a major boost to United’s attacking squad. However, due to financial fair play regulations, fans are advised to wait for official confirmation before celebrating the move.
