Gyokeres completes medical, Hojlund to Saudi Arabia, Onana replacement signed, Two signings to be announced today- Manchester United’s latest transfer news as Viktor Gyokeres signed five-years deal with the Reds
The past day has been a dramatic one at Old Trafford, as Manchester United’s transfer activity suddenly accelerated with a series of high-profile signings, most notably the confirmed addition of Viktor Gyökeres. The Swedish forward has now passed his medical and inked a five-year deal with the club, becoming the latest major acquisition under Erik ten Hag’s leadership.
At a formal press event earlier today, the United manager verified the transfer:
> “Viktor is a proven goalscorer at the highest level, and we believe he’s going to bring something special to our attack. His physicality, work ethic, and finishing ability make him a perfect fit for our system.”
Previously at Sporting CP, the striker arrives at United after an impressive campaign in Portugal and is expected to lead the team’s revamped attacking line.
In an unexpected development, Rasmus Højlund is reportedly on the verge of a dramatic switch to Saudi Arabia. Over the weekend, an exceptionally lucrative proposal was received, and the striker is now anticipated to agree on personal terms with a still-unnamed Saudi Pro League side within days.
> “These are decisions we don’t take lightly,” Ten Hag admitted. “But the player and the club have agreed this is the right move at this stage of his career.”
On the goalkeeping front, Manchester United acted quickly to find a successor for André Onana, who is believed to be nearing a switch to Paris Saint-Germain. The club has announced the arrival of a new starting goalkeeper, although their identity is yet to be revealed as final documentation is completed. Insider information points to a seasoned international with experience in the Champions League.
Rounding off the day’s transfer activity, Ten Hag hinted at two more imminent arrivals. One is said to be a flexible left-back, while the other is described as an energetic midfielder from Serie A — both reportedly “99% complete.”
Supporters have responded with great enthusiasm, as social media lights up in response to the club’s assertive transfer dealings following a sluggish opening to the window.
Gyökeres is slated to be officially presented at Old Trafford later today, and is scheduled to make his first appearance during the team’s upcoming
U.S. pre-season tour.
