**Romano: Liverpool ‘Negotiating Deal’ to Acquire ‘Elite’ Star Alongside Guehi**

Liverpool is actively working on finalizing a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike during the current transfer window, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The reigning Premier League champions have pinpointed the skilled French striker as a potential recruit for Arne Slot’s front line and are holding internal talks about his prospective arrival.

The club is focused on reinforcing their attack, particularly with Darwin Nunez likely to depart amid strong interest from Serie A title-holders Napoli.

Nunez’s expected exit would open up a position and provide financial flexibility for a new leading striker, bringing Ekitike into consideration after his impressive breakthrough season in the Bundesliga.

Waiting on updates related to Nunez’s transfer.

In a segment on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Liverpool is actively exploring the option of bringing Ekitike into the squad and is pushing forward with plans for a summer transfer:

> “I have mentioned multiple times how Liverpool is pursuing this deal, and how they are contemplating the addition of Hugo Ekitike to their roster.

>

> “Yes, the plan for Liverpool is to secure another striker, and they are waiting to see what unfolds with Darwin Nunez.”

Ekitike, widely praised as ‘elite’, joined Frankfurt permanently from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and enjoyed a standout Bundesliga campaign, scoring 15 goals and adding eight assists across 33 appearances.

Reports suggest Frankfurt may be willing to accept a transfer fee between £68 million and £76 million in this window—below their original valuation of £84 million.

So far this summer, Liverpool has spent close to £200 million on three new arrivals: Bayer Leverkusen pair Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, as well as Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez.

The Reds are also targeting a centre-back amid questions over Ibrahima Konate’s future, with current talks ongoing for Crys

tal Palace captain Marc Guehi.
