Manchester United Drop Mbeumo Interest and Strike Deal with Higher-Calibre Striker — New Signing Arrives in Manchester for Medical

Manchester United have adopted a firm approach in the summer transfer market, indicating a significant overhaul of their forward options after an underwhelming 2024/25 campaign in which the side found it difficult to find the net regularly.

To back newly appointed manager Rúben Amorim, the Red Devils began their transfer activity by acquiring Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a major £62.5 million move. Cunha, who netted 15 goals in the league last season, offers Premier League know-how and a proven eye for goal to United’s attack.

Among their initial targets was Bryan Mbeumo, who delivered an outstanding season for Brentford, scoring 20 times and generating 17 key chances — largely from the right flank. Mbeumo’s versatility to operate both in central areas and out wide made him a compelling candidate to enhance United’s offensive adaptability.

Nevertheless, the club has now opted to withdraw from the pursuit of Mbeumo, choosing instead to prioritize a forward they believe to be a better fit.

According to Stretty News, United have been presented with the opportunity to bring in Moise Kean, the Italian attacker who had a difficult spell at Everton but has since rediscovered his form in Serie A. At Fiorentina, Kean struck 19 times in the league and recorded 25 goals across all competitions, ranking him among Italy’s leading scorers.

The 25-year-old has an estimated value of £44 million, and initial discussions have begun between United and his camp. Although no agreement has yet been reached, the final call will be made by Amorim, who will determine whether Kean aligns with his tactical vision.

Should the deal get the green light, Kean may spearhead United’s attack, potentially working alongside Cunha and a wide forward such as Mbeumo (should talks resume). His sharp finishing, combined with the inventiveness of prospective teammates, could notably enhance United’s goal-scoring edge.

Former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel previously labeled Kean as “fearless”—a trait that may prove vital if he returns to the Premier League with United.
