The Vitality Fallout: “This is the Second Time This Month!”

Manchester United’s “Redemption Era” under Michael Carrick is facing its first major internal crisis. While the fans are still fuming over the VAR scandal and Harry Maguire’s red card in the 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth, a new and potentially more damaging story has emerged from the heart of the dressing room.

Bryan Mbeumo, who has been one of United’s standout performers this season but is currently enduring a “dismal” six-game goal drought, was substituted in the 71st minute for Benjamin Šeško. The Cameroonian international did not hide his frustration on the pitch, but it was what happened behind closed doors that has truly “ignited” the fanbase.

“Just because I don’t want to talk doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m doing,” Mbeumo reportedly revealed as Carrick’s words to him during a heated post-match debrief. “This is the second time Michael Carrick is saying this to me this month. I’m giving my all, but I feel like I’m being targeted.”

The “False 9” Failure: Is Carrick Misusing His Star?

The tension between the manager and his top scorer (9 goals) reportedly stems from Carrick’s insistence on playing Mbeumo as a “False 9” or central striker, rather than his preferred right-wing position. Since the African Cup of Nations, Mbeumo’s output has “fallen off a cliff,” and the player reportedly feels the tactical shift is to blame.

“Mbeumo is a winger, not a target man,” pundits noted after the match. “Carrick is trying to force a square peg into a round hole, and it’s clearly starting to grate on the player’s nerves.”

The “Šeško Factor”: A Super-Sub Creating Friction

The situation is further complicated by the form of Benjamin Šeško. The Slovenian striker has become the ultimate “super-sub,” netting five goals in his last seven appearances off the bench, including a crucial strike in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

By constantly substituting Mbeumo for Šeško early in the second half, Carrick is reportedly sending a message that “seniority doesn’t matter.” While this “meritocracy” has worked for the results, it has left Mbeumo feeling “undervalued and exposed.”

Fans React: “In Carrick We Trust or Player Power?”

The United faithful are split. Some believe Carrick is right to demand more, while others fear he is “alienating” the club’s best attacking asset.

• “Carrick has been top-notch, but he can’t afford to lose the dressing room. If Mbeumo is unhappy, our Top 4 hopes are in trouble!” one fan tweeted.

• “Mbeumo needs to stop complaining and start scoring. Šeško is doing the business, why should Carrick wait?” another countered.

What’s Next? The International Break and a “Managerial Meeting”

With Mbeumo heading off for international duty with Cameroon, the distance might be exactly what both parties need. However, reports suggest that INEOS officials have already called for an “emergency meeting” to ensure this “misunderstanding” doesn’t derail the season ahead of the high-stakes clash against Leeds United.

THE DRESSING ROOM IS SMOKING — WILL CARRICK PUT OUT THE FIRE OR BE BURNT BY IT?
