The £125m Bombshell: “I’m Done with Anfield!”

The “Anfield Exodus” has just claimed its most expensive victim. In a move that has sent “electric shocks” through the Premier League, Alexander Isak—the most expensive player in British football history—has reportedly informed his inner circle that he wants to quit Liverpool F.C. this summer.

Despite the club smashing their transfer record to sign him for £125 million ($170m) from Newcastle United just last September, the Swedish sensation is reportedly “dissatisfied” with his situation under Arne Slot and is eyeing a “dream move” to FC Barcelona.

“I WILL LEAVE LIVERPOOL. THAT’S FOR SURE,” Isak reportedly told close associates, according to “nuclear” reports from El Nacional and Fichajes. “I NEED A STYLE OF PLAY THAT ENHANCES MY QUALITIES, AND I DON’T FIND THAT HERE.”

The Injury Curse: A Season of “What Ifs”

The “shattering” reality for Isak is that his debut campaign has been a “medical nightmare.” Since his high-profile arrival, the 26-year-old has spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch:

• The Long-Term Blow: Isak has been sidelined since early December 2025 after suffering a fractured fibula (broken leg) against Tottenham.

• The Fitness Battle: Before the break, he also missed several weeks due to persistent adductor pain, limiting him to just 10 Premier League appearances and 2 goals.

While Arne Slot has recently confirmed that Isak is “back in light training” and could feature for minutes in the Champions League Quarter-Final against PSG, the player reportedly feels “alienated” and believe the club’s declining form—currently sitting 5th in the table—is a sign that the “Slotball” project isn’t for him.

The Barcelona Dream: A Tactical Escape?

Isak has reportedly instructed his agents to “initiate immediate contact” with the Catalan giants. The Swede believes that Barcelona’s tactical philosophy is the “perfect antidote” to the physical exhaustion he has felt in the Premier League.

Barcelona has long admired Isak, and while they initially baulked at the £125m price tag, they are reportedly monitoring his “unstable situation” at Anfield closely. However, with Liverpool desperate to recoup a significant portion of their investment, any deal is expected to be “massively complicated.”

Arne Slot’s Stance: “Patience is Required”

Despite the “exit rumors,” Arne Slot remains publicly supportive of his record signing. Speaking on March 20, Slot urged fans to be patient: “It is 100% sure fans will see the best of him next season. We are trying to make sure we see close to the best of him this season.”

However, insiders suggest that the “lack of a proper pre-season” and the player’s “mental fatigue” have created a “rift” that may be beyond repair.

Fans React: “The Worst Business Ever?”

The Liverpool faithful are in a state of “total uproar” as the club’s record signing looks for the exit door before even completing a full season.

• “£125m for a player who’s played 10 games and now wants to join Barca? This is a disaster. If he doesn’t want to be here, sell him now!” one fan tweeted.

• “We lost Salah, Van Dijk is leaving, and now our record signing wants out? The club is in freefall!” added another.

What’s Next? The PSG Test and the Summer Auction

The next few weeks are “critical.” If Isak returns and makes a “shattering impact” against PSG in the Champions League, it may convince him to stay. If not, the £125m man could become the headline act of the most “explosive” summer transfer window in history.
