Van Dijk reveals hotel room chat where Summerville snubbed Liverpool for Manchester United.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has conceded defeat in his attempt to convince international teammate Crysencio Summerville to move to Anfield, revealing the winger has chosen a move to Manchester United instead.

The discussions took place at the Netherlands’ World Cup training base in Toronto. Summerville, 24, has become one of the most heavily sought-after properties of the summer window following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League.

“I sat him down and tried my hardest to convince him to join Liverpool,” Van Dijk revealed. “But before I could even finish, he looked me dead in the eye and said, ‘bro, it’s Manchester United or nothing.’ He is ready to force a transfer after the World Cup. It pains me because under Michael Carrick, they are going to win the Premier League.”

United’s sporting director Dan Ashworth has reportedly opened formal inquiries with West Ham, layout out a valuation package in the region of £50 million to secure the Dutch attacker.
