BERBATOV RAGES AFTER POLAND COLLAPSE

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has reportedly launched an unfiltered verbal attack following the club’s 4-2 pre-season friendly loss against Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan in Wrocław, Poland. What was intended to be a reassuring final rehearsal before the Premier League opener turned into a chaotic defensive breakdown, as United surrendered a 2-1 second-half advantage by conceding three unanswered goals.

While head coach Michael Carrick faced scrutiny over team selection, Berbatov singled out full-back Luke Shaw, who started and played the entire ninety minutes at left-back while United’s defensive flank repeatedly crumbled under intense pressure from Milan’s attackers.

“NO MANAGER SHOULD EVER START HIM!” — THE SCATHING ATTACK

Addressing Shaw’s performance during post-match commentary, Berbatov expressed total disbelief at Carrick’s team selection, questioning why the senior defender remains a focal point in the starting lineup:

“I’m sick of watching him play like a newbie every time he’s on the pitch. He doesn’t add any value to the team. No manager of this team will ever start him in their starting XI. I’m disappointed in Carrick for starting him Luke Shaw against AC Milan. He’s not just a bad player, he’s a disgrace to football.”

The Bulgarian forward did not hold back his anger, pointing out that United’s defensive structure continuously dissolved whenever AC Milan switched play rapidly out wide. For a player with Shaw’s tenure at Old Trafford, failing to track runners and leaving central defenders isolated has raised severe alarm bells ahead of the domestic campaign.

MATCH RECAP: HOW AC MILAN EXPOSED UNITED’S FLANK

The encounter at the Stadion Miejski in Wrocław started promisingly for Manchester United when Harry Maguire converted a Bruno Fernandes corner in the 2nd minute. However, AC Milan repeatedly exploited space behind United’s defensive line:

37th Minute: Samuel Chukwueze equalized for Milan after Gonçalo Ramos carved open space on the right wing. Bruno Fernandes subsequently missed a penalty before half-time.

51st Minute: Patrick Dorgu pounced on an error to put United back in front at 2-1.

57th to 71st Minutes: Milan launched a ruthless comeback. Alphadjo Cissè leveled at 2-2, Gonçalo Ramos scored a header to make it 3-2, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek sealed the 4-2 victory after cutting inside from the left channel to beat Senne Lammens.

Throughout the second half, Milan’s wingers found massive gaps down United’s left flank, forcing central defenders into uncomfortable wide recovery runs.

CARRICK UNDER PRESSURE AHEAD OF PL OPENER

The defeat in Poland concluded a six-match pre-season tour for Manchester United. With the Premier League kickoff away to Hull City less than a week away, Michael Carrick faces urgent questions regarding his defensive personnel.

Although Lisandro Martínez, Kobbie Mainoo, and Marcus Rashford made their returns to the matchday squad, the reliance on Luke Shaw at left-back remains a major talking point among pundits and supporters alike. If Carrick cannot fix the structural defensive gaps exposed by Ruben Amorim’s side, United’s early-season form could be severely compromised.

FANBASE REACTS TO BERBATOV’S ULTIMATUM

Social media platforms erupted following Berbatov’s scathing verdict on Luke Shaw’s display:

User @RedDevilRant wrote: “Berbatov said what every fan was thinking watching that game! Our left side was wide open for 90 minutes straight. Carrick needs to make bold changes before next weekend!”

User @UTDFactory commented: “Conceding four goals in Poland right before the season starts is unacceptable. Shaw was left isolated, but he also lacked the intensity needed to shut down Chukwueze.”

User @StretfordEndLoyal stated: “Pre-season or not, you cannot let former managers walk all over us like that. Berbatov is right to demand higher standards from senior players!”

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR MANCHESTER UNITED?

With pre-season officially wrapped up, Manchester United must immediately recalibrate at Carrington ahead of their opening league fixture. All eyes will be on Carrick’s team sheet next Saturday to see whether he sticks with his experienced full-back or makes a tactical shift to stabilize the defense.
