Shock club ‘ready to place £99m offer for Dominik Szoboszlai’ in major headache for Arne Slot

Liverpool may need to persuade star player Dominik Szoboszlai to remain with the club this summer, as a surprising club is reportedly planning to pursue him during the transfer window.

Arne Slot has been exceptional since taking over at Liverpool as the replacement for the legendary Jurgen Klopp last summer.

The Dutch coach has guided the Reds to their second consecutive Carabao Cup final, while also leading the Premier League by 13 points and topping the Champions League group stage.

A key factor in Slot’s success at Anfield has been his ability to further develop players already at the club, but he may now need to defend against interest from an unexpected club for one of his key players in the summer. Szoboszlai is currently in the best form of his Liverpool career, having scored and earned man of the match honors in the 2-0 victories over Manchester City and Newcastle United.

However, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool isn’t the only club impressed by the midfielder’s recent performances, as Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal is reportedly preparing a huge offer for the summer transfer window.

The Riyadh-based club is said to be ready to pay as much as €120m (£100m) to secure the Hungarian international’s services, as they look to continue their strategy of attracting prominent players from top global clubs.

The report also states that Al Hilal is not the only club showing interest in the 24-year-old, as several top European teams are also considering making a move. Szoboszlai had difficulty finding a consistent role early on in Slot’s tenure as manager, but has now become an essential part of the team, starting in the last nine Premier League matches consecutively.

Commenting on Szoboszlai’s recent performances following the victory over Newcastle, Slot stated: “[I’m] very happy for him because he’s the type of player who always looks for a teammate in a better position if he has the chance.

“He deserves the recognition he is receiving now. He has always had my approval whenever he played for us, but perhaps now he’s getting even more recognition from those who assess players not just for their work rate but also for goals and assists.”
