Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing an English winger after Borussia Dortmund reduced their asking price by £25 million.

The club is said to be among those eyeing Dortmund’s left-winger, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who might now be available for a lower fee.

The England U21 international joined Dortmund from Manchester City in 2020 and has frequently been linked with Liverpool this season.

German sources suggest that the Reds are still keeping tabs on Gittens, with journalist Fabrizio Romano previously revealing that club scouts have observed the 20-year-old on multiple occasions.

A recent update from Sky Germany further supports reports of Liverpool’s interest, stating that Dortmund is “internally preparing” for the possible departure of their No. 43 at the end of the season.

Other clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich, are also contenders, while the Premier League is considered Gittens’ “dream move.”

Sky Germany also points out that Dortmund’s failure to qualify for the Champions League or Europa League could prompt them to sell.

With 10 Bundesliga games remaining, Dortmund is in 10th place, just five points behind fifth place, which secures a Europa League spot. The club has not finished below fifth since the 2014/15 season and has participated in the Champions League for nine consecutive years.

Initially, Dortmund valued Gittens at €100 million (£82.7 million), but this figure is now seen as unrealistic. A more reasonable price range of €60 million (£49.6 million) to €70 million (£57.9 million) is being suggested.

The winger has made 94 appearances for Dortmund’s first team, scoring 16 goals and providing 10 assists while continuing to grow as an attacking threat.

Though primarily a left-winger, he has also played 15 times on the right and once as a central attacking midfielder.

Gittens has been a regular for England’s U21 squad over the past two seasons, including scoring a goal assisted by Harvey Elliott in a 7-0 win over Luxembourg last year.

Liverpool already has strong depth on the left wing, with Cody Gakpo and the versatile Luis Diaz, raising questions about their reported interest in Gittens. However, potential tactical changes under incoming manager Arne Slot could shift their transfer priorities. Diaz has been linked with Barcelona, with his contract entering its final two years in July, while Darwin Nunez is rumored to be leaving amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, there is ongoing speculation over Mohamed Salah’s future, as he has not yet agreed to a contract extension despite wanting to stay.

Although Gittens is not a direct replacement for Salah due to his preferred position on the opposite wing, Liverpool remains a potential destination as they look to reshape their attacking options.
