LIVERPOOLBREAKING: Viktor Gyökeres has said YES to the Liverpool project. Club to club talk now to agree a fee ongoing

Barcelona are finalizing their preparations ahead of their upcoming Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday, December 11. Hansi Flick’s squad enters the game following a 2-2 draw with Real Betis over the weekend.
Meanwhile, the Catalan club is showing interest in bringing a Liverpool right-back to Camp Nou. Additionally, the Spanish side is not planning a move for Viktor Gyokeres.
On that note, here are the key Barcelona transfer updates from December.
Barcelona have set their sights on Trent Alexander-Arnold, according to Caught Offside & Bernabeu Digital (via Barca Universal). The English right-back’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire in just over six months, and he has yet to agree to a new deal.
Real Madrid are already closely monitoring his situation and are planning a free transfer move at the end of the season. However, it now seems that Barcelona are attempting to disrupt their arch-rival’s plans.
The Catalan club is in search of a new right-back due to Jules Kounde’s recent struggles. Additionally, they lack sufficient backup for the French defender in their squad, and Alexander-Arnold’s arrival could help resolve that issue.
Club president Joan Laporta reportedly wants to make a strong statement by securing one of Real Madrid’s top transfer targets. However, winning the race for the Englishman’s signature will not be an easy task. Liverpool remain determined to retain their star player, while Manchester City are also said to be in the mix.
Barcelona are not actively pursuing Viktor Gyokeres, according to journalist Gabriel Sans (via Barca Universal). Although the club is considering long-term replacements for Robert Lewandowski, the Polish forward is likely to extend his stay at Camp Nou until 2026.
Given Lewandowski’s continued strong form, signing a new striker is not currently a top priority. Any forward brought in would have to accept a backup role at this point.
Gyokeres is unlikely to move to Barcelona to serve as a second-choice striker behind Lewandowski. While the La Liga club admire the Swedish forward, he will be 28 years old in 2026, which may make him a less attractive long-term option.
The Sporting CP striker is in excellent form, having scored 25 goals in 22 appearances this season. Recent reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are interested in signing him.
Eric Garcia is open to leaving Barcelona in 2025, according to Gabriel Sans (via Barca Universal). The defender has fallen out of favor at Camp Nou, and the club is reportedly willing to offload him next year.
The report also mentions that there is considerable interest from Premier League clubs in Garcia’s services. Hansi Flick has reportedly informed the player that he is no longer guaranteed regular playing time with the team.
The German coach will not stand in Garcia’s way if he decides to leave in January. However, the La Liga club is hesitant to let him depart during the winter transfer window, as they still see a role for him in the current campaign.
Barcelona will, however, be open to selling him at the end of the season. The Spanish defender’s contract at Camp Nou runs until 2026, and he is willing to move on in order to revive his career.
